The Challenges

In the OA machine market worldwide, a growing number of companies are focused on making thin- wall, lightweight,  multifunctional  and high-speed products. In  addition, the  certification  of  eco- friendly  materials  is  also  in  increasing  demand,  which  in  turn  accelerates  the  development  of environment-friendly products. Against this backdrop, global key players are rushing to adopt non- halogen, flame-retardant materials with the properties of excellent processibility and heat resistance and the technology for thin-wall.

Major OA machine manufacturers, which have long set the market trends, find it necessary to shift from existing high flowability material for thin wall design to more innovative product solutions that go beyond the limits of existing material properties such as chemical resistance and impact strength. To meet the fresh market demand, LOTTE Chemical sets up a thin-wall product lineup that meets all the requirements involving high flowability, impact strength, chemical resistance and flammability; as a result of continued research and development, it introduced INFINO® high flow non-halogen PC/ABS NE-1029 for next-generation OA machine housing.


The Solutions

INFINO® Non-halogen PC/ABS NE-1029 is a high-quality product well-suited for OA machine housing. It features the balanced material properties including chemical resistance and flammability, as well as high flowability -- conditions optimized for thin-wall design. NE-1029 can be used as exterior material for standard and multi-function printers, and all-in-one PC.

NE-1029 has improved its spiral flow length by more than 50 percent, compared with the reference material. And it has excellent chemical resistance to ink, alcohol and oil etc. As for oil resistance, the ESCR test was conducted but no crack was found after seven days passed. Similarly the dart drop impact test (500g steel ball, 1.3m height) did not generate any crack. Its flammability is also Ideal for thin wall applications : 1.5mm 5VB, 1.2mm V-0. Along with other properties, heat resistance meets the requirement: HDT ≥ 80℃

NE-1029’s thin-wall material solution allows for a cut in product thickness from 2.0 to 1.5mm or less. This advantage also translates into a saving of material cost by 25 percent. Thanks to the thin-wall effect, customers can shorten the cycle time and improve processibility by about 15 percent. Altogether, customers can reduce costs by 18~20 percent.
