The Solutions

Center garnish, one of the automotive interior parts, belongs to the head impact zone. Therefore, center garnish must secure safety on impact. It also has to withstand the automotive body’s harsh internal conditions characterized by high temperature and high humidity. At the same time, center garnish should embrace the latest design trends, which means its design should be more refined and elegant than the existing products.

LOTTE Chemical is drawing keen attention among global automakers by introducing double-shot injection mold solutions for automotive interior parts that meet various conditions at the same time. LOTTE Chemical has applied the double-shot injection mold technology, which is being utilized in the E&E industry, to the automotive interior parts -- the first successful attempt in the automotive industry. In particular, it has adopted PC and Luminous materials, enhancing visibility, and incorporated the three-dimensional patterns, also the first achievement in the related field.

Compared with the two-dimensional process, the three-dimensional process can reduce costs as it does not need the surface-treatment and other procedures.

The quality of appearance has been also improved dramatically thanks to the adoption of Heat & Cool mold technology and metal particle control. Customers also can enjoy far better driving experience in pleasant conditions as the solutions reduce VOC and odor.
