This section introduces Lotte Chemical’s production and processing technology and processes for each plant.

Plant #1 > DMC - EC

The plant produces EC by synthesizing EO and CO2 which are produced in the EG plant, and produces DMC by synthesizing the produced EC and methanol. It is also producing byproducts from EG. DMC is used as the raw material for polycarbonate, the functional plastic used in electricity/electronics, optical images, automotive parts, optics, and medical treatments. Also as an eco-friendly product, it can be used as paint solvent and automobile fuel additive. Thus, in the future, its applications can be widened depending on the environmental regulations.

01 EC Reaction Unit

EO and CO2 Reactor with three in the catalytic reaction of the process is to create Crude EC.

02 EC Purifying Unit

Crude EC and the impurities removed through pressure-vacuum distillation under reduced pressure and the EC through the production of high-purity process.
