This section introduces Lotte Chemical’s production and processing technology and processes for each plant.

Plant #3 > BD - BN1

The BD refining plant produces high-purity 1.3-butadiene through extractive distillation and refining process using mixed C4 produced in the ethylene plant as raw material, removing impurities through extractive distillation according to relative volatility compared with solvent. The remaining impurities are removed in the refining process. The 1,3-butadiene is used as raw material for synthetic rubber, and its byproduct -- C4 Raffinate-1 -- is used as raw material for the TBA plant.

01 MTBE Process (R2 Refining Process)

As C4 Raff passes through the R2 high-purity refining process, it eliminates iso-Butene by MTBE using MeOH.

02 BN1 Process

In this refining process, Butene-1 is refined at 2 towers with high boiling points and 2 towers with low boiling points. Products generated from C4 Raff2 MTBE and butenone MTB are used as raw material for butenone.
